Multiple Approaches to the Same Goal
Ascenta is developing drugs that target three distinct pathways to cancer cell apoptosis (cell death):
Proof-of-Concept Established in the Clinic
In Phase I and Phase II trials, AT-101 has demonstrated activity as a single-agent and in combination with other anticancer therapies in several cancers, including: B-cell malignancies (CLL and NHL), esophageal cancer, glioma, hormone-refractory prostate cancer (HRPC), non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), and small cell lung cancer (SCLC). A potential lead indication for AT-101 is in treating patients with HRPC. Initial findings from an ongoing Phase II study of AT-101 in combination with docetaxel (Taxotere®) in patients with chemotherapy-naïve and docetaxel refractory HRPC demonstrated that AT-101 can be safely administered and clinical responses, based on both PSA and tumor shrinkage have been observed.
