Welcome to Ascenta Therapeutics

Ascenta Therapeutics is a privately-held, clinical stage biopharmaceutical company dedicated to the discovery and development of new medicines to treat cancer.  Ascenta’s current focus is a portfolio of novel, orally-active, small molecule drugs that restore the natural potential for cancer cells to undergo cell death (apoptosis).

Programs and Progress

Multiple Approaches to the Same Goal
Research

Ascenta is developing drugs that target three distinct pathways to cancer cell apoptosis (cell death):

Proof-of-Concept Established in the Clinic

In Phase I and Phase II trials, AT-101 has demonstrated activity as a single-agent and in combination with other anticancer therapies in several cancers, including: B-cell malignancies (CLL and NHL), esophageal cancer, glioma, hormone-refractory prostate cancer (HRPC), non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), and small cell lung cancer (SCLC). A potential lead indication for AT-101 is in treating patients with HRPC. Initial findings from an ongoing Phase II study of AT-101 in combination with docetaxel (Taxotere®) in patients with chemotherapy-naïve and docetaxel refractory HRPC demonstrated that AT-101 can be safely administered and clinical responses, based on both PSA and tumor shrinkage have been observed.
